This device is different from everything else on my list of the best home water softener systems in both looks and operation. It doesn’t use ion exchange, reverse osmosis, or electromagnetic descaling. Instead, it relies on chelation.

To date, the Nuvo H2O remains the smallest water filtration system I have ever seen. The device doesn’t need to be big because it uses chelation to purify water. The system is filled with Nuvo’s original chelating agent, which takes care of the extra minerals found in hard water.

The chelator inside the Nuvo H2O is both FDA- and NSF-approved, not to mention perfectly safe for you. Similar to ion exchange systems, the chelating agent binds to the calcium and magnesium ions found in hard water.
